Mrs. Kearns

4th Grade Teacher

Hello Parents and Guardians!

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Mrs. Kearns, and I am so excited to be your child’s 4th grade teacher! This is my fifth year teaching at Lyncrest. Before my time at Lyncrest, I completed a full year of student teaching at Radburn Elementary School. I have also had experience teaching special education to children with developmental disabilities in Oakland, NJ. Additionally, I am trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach to reading instruction. I earned my Master’s Degree in teaching elementary K-6 and teaching students with disabilities from Montclair State University, and my Bachelor’s Degree in communication and writing from Loyola University Maryland. Most recently, I completed an additional 30 credits in education online from UC San Diego Extension.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy visiting my family’s beach house at the Jersey Shore, spending time with my two cats, and finding new and fun ways to exercise. I am newly married, and try to make time for my husband as well!

Throughout the year, it is important to have a strong parent-teacher relationship. If at any time you have any questions or concerns please contact me. I check class dojo frequently, and tend to use that as my main source of communication. You can also email me.

I am thrilled to be starting on this year’s journey with your child! I cannot wait to watch them learn, grow and have a fantastic time in 4th grade!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Amber Kearns
