We are in the midst of a very active cold and flu season. As a result, our school is experiencing an increase in illnesses such as flu, stomach virus, strep throat, and fevers. The CDC is reporting that flu activity continues to increase in the United States. Should your child experience any of the symptoms outlined by the CDC below, it is suggested to keep your child home. Symptoms include:

•fever

•cough

•sore throat

•headache

•muscle aches

•fatigue

•possible vomiting and diarrhea.

Should your child be diagnosed with the flu or any other illness, it is helpful if you let the school know so that we can monitor his/her classroom or our school as a whole. This provides us with the opportunity to advise other parents as well as provide the classroom with additional cleaning in areas that harbor germs. So please be sure to leave this information when calling in an absence or when you sign in to Genesis to report an absence.

In an effort to proactively address this increase of illnesses, we are cleaning the student tables and desks nightly. In addition, we are making sure that all surfaces that are touched by little hands are cleaned regularly including student restrooms and lunch areas. We are hopeful that these extra efforts will help. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact my office.
